Q: Can I obtain college credit hours upon completion of the program?


A: Yes, UEI has affiliation agreements with the University of Utah for credits toward a degree in Kinesiology and Weber State University credits toward their Bachelor of Integrated Studies (BIS) degree. Both entities offer a total of 30 credit hours for completion of our program.

Q: Is the program accredited?


A: Yes, UEI is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP), the only accreditation available for neurodiagnostic training programs.

Q: How long is the program?


A: Two academic semesters. Classes typically begin the 3rd week in August and conclude in mid-May.

Q: How do I become a registered technologist?


A: You must first successfully graduate from the UEI program, then apply to take a national registry examination. The cost of this test is $700. Upon successful completion of this exam, you will granted your national registry.

Q: Do I have to apply to the University of Utah in order to be accepted into the UEI program?


A: No. Because we are a hospital-based program, you will not need to apply to become a University of Utah student.

Q: Does the UEI program offer financial aid?

A: Unfortunately, no. Because we are a hospital-based program, we are not able to offer some of the benefits of attending a college or university, including financial aid. However, scholarships are available for our most qualified students.

Q: What is the average pay of a registered EEG Technologist?


A: In the Intermountain region, the average pay is $63,385 per year.

Q: What is the program workload like?


A: The didactic portion of the program's students have said it is similar to 9–12 college credits. In addition, we have the 8 hours of clinicals each week.

Q: Am I able to work while in the program?


A: Most of our students are able to work during the program. They have been able to hold a full-time job while also taking one or two other college classes.
