Welcome to the Adult Neurology Residency Program

Thank you for your interest in the University of Utah Adult Neurology Residency Program.

The Adult Neurology Residency Program at the Spencer Fox Eccles School of Medicine at the University of Utah trains residents to care for patients across the full spectrum of neurologic disease. Based in Salt Lake City, our program serves patients from across the Mountain West and offers broad clinical exposure, close faculty mentorship, and pathways into fellowship, academic medicine, research, leadership, and community practice.

We are also committed to supporting each resident as an individual. With eight residents per class, our program is large enough to offer outstanding clinical and academic opportunities while remaining small enough to foster meaningful mentorship, strong friendships, and a genuine sense of community.

We believe the best neurologists are developed through excellent education, thoughtful guidance, and shared experiences with colleagues who challenge and support one another.

We are delighted that you are considering the University of Utah and look forward to sharing our program with you.

A Message from Our Residency Program Director

A Message from Our Residency Program Director

Our department has representation across all major subspecialties of neurology and has grown immensely during the tenure of our current chair, Dr. Stefan Pulst. Under Dr. Pulst's leadership, we have added faculty members to all of our subspecialty divisions, created the Translational Neuroscience Division, added an autonomic lab, increased the size of our neurocritical care unit, expanded our TeleStroke program, and created a TeleNeurology program.

Our residency is of medium size, with eight resident positions per year, and we are committed to the education of residents on a personal level.

The Adult Neurology Residency at the University of Utah has so much to offer! We welcome you to look through our website for further information.
