About Me
Abby grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah, where she developed a natural love for being outside and finding ways to explore the incredible (and close!) mountains. She moved to Southern California for college and spent the next four years studying Spanish literature under the palm trees and perpetually sunny skies. After college, Abby departed on a six-month backpacking trip of a lifetime from Cartagena, Colombia, down to Ushuaia, Argentina. After returning to Utah and continuing on what she describes as the “scenic route” to medical school, she accepted a job as a case manager with a local nonprofit that assisted refugee women and their families. While Abby’s original plan at the start of medical school was to pursue a career in family medicine, her interest in neurology was sparked during her second-year brain and behavior course and was later confirmed during her third-year clerkship at the University of Utah where she was intrigued by the pathophysiology of neurological conditions and the intimate and long-lasting relationships neurologists were able to have with their patients as they navigate difficult diagnoses. She is excited about the space that the field of neurology creates to blend her excitement, curiosity, and humility regarding neurological pathophysiology with the delicate art of caring for patients. As far as a specific area of neurology that she is interested in, it’s too soon to tell! In her free time, you can find her either baking sweet treats to share or adventuring outside—from backcountry skiing in the winter to scrambling along the ridgelines of the Wasatch Mountains in the summer.
